FHA ups the monthly mortgage insurance

Last night FHA announced specifics on its planned increase in monthly mortgage insurance. The changes will definitely increase monthly payments for homeowners. The impact may even be enough to push some borrowers over qualifying debt ratios.

It has surprised me that rates have held flat this week, but today's payroll reports has given the markets just one more bit of bad news with much lower than expected numbers.

I think today the bond markets will lead rates lower, continuing the recent trends.
